OnePlus said today that the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R will formally launch on January 23, 2024, throughout the world, including India. With the OnePlus 12R, the OnePlus R-series, which has hitherto only been available in India, is expanding internationally. The company celebrated its tenth anniversary by releasing a video that included both confirmations.
As an update to the OnePlus 11, the OnePlus 12 was released on December 5 with faster hardware, including Qualcomm's newest chip, and a more appealing price point. Alongside, the OnePlus 12R was supposed to launch (under OnePlus's exclusive Ace branding for China), but it never happened.
However, now that OnePlus has officially confirmed the product's existence, more information about it may become available soon. It should most likely debut in China in the next few days prior to the major worldwide reveal.
The 6.82-inch 2K or 1440p LTPO AMOLED display used in the Chinese version of the OnePlus 12 is supplied by BOE. It provides a peak brightness of 4,500 nits in theory. Users will be able to experience seamless touch responses in the rain thanks to OnePlus's integration of its rainwater touch technology into the panel (the 12 is also IP65-rated). The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and a 5,400mAh battery that supports 50W wireless and 100W fast wired charging power the OnePlus 12.
The OnePlus 12 boasts a triple camera setup on its back: a 48-megapixel Sony IMX581 sensor behind an ultrawide lens, a 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B sensor behind a 3x periscope telephoto lens, and a 50-megapixel main Sony LYT-808 sensor. The 12 features a 32-megapixel selfie camera on the front.
On January 23, 2024, OnePlus will unveil the OnePlus 12 and 12R at their "Smooth Beyond Belief" launch event. The start time of the livestream is 7:30 PM.
