Lotus Emeya Electric Grand Tourer Excels In Arctic Circle Cold Weather Trials

  • 12-February-2024

The Lotus Emeya electric grand tourer emerged victorious from its final stage of development after a demanding test of endurance and performance. An extensive test and development program spanning 15 countries and two continents has been conducted for the Lotus Emeya over a period of three years. This electric powerhouse has undergone extensive testing to guarantee it meets the highest standards of performance and reliability, whether it is being used on the demanding B-roads of the UK, the smooth autobahns of Germany, or the rough terrain of Inner Mongolia.

The Emeya's ultimate test was conducted during a recent cold-weather validation program in the Arctic Circle, where temperatures dropped as low as -40ºC (-40ºF). The Emeya proved its mettle in spite of the extremely cold weather, exhibiting remarkable stability, handling, and control.

The stringent testing procedure carried out by Lotus engineers was highlighted by Sylvain Verstraeten, Regional Vehicle Line Director for the Emeya. To guarantee peak performance in any situation, every component of the Emeya—from its tires and battery to its suspension and steering—went through a rigorous inspection.

A significant obstacle encountered during the testing process was the creation of customized winter tires made especially for the Emeya. In addition to providing unmatched traction and grip on icy and snow-covered roads, these tires are essential to the vehicle's dynamic capabilities.

The Emeya has many features that are intended to improve drivers' comfort and convenience in addition to its performance. Customers can conveniently activate heated seats and a steering wheel as well as remotely adjust the cabin temperature of their car using the Lotus App. This guarantees that, even in the worst weather, getting from the comforts of home to the driver's seat is seamless.

A 55-inch head-up display with the novel Snow Mode lets drivers confidently navigate through snowy landscapes. Heated side cameras and mirrors provide the best visibility possible in inclement weather.

Director of Attributes and Product Integrity at Lotus Gavan Kershaw says that even with its electric drivetrain, the Emeya is still distinctly a Lotus – captivating, appealing, and most importantly, exhilarating to drive.

Deliveries of the Lotus Emeya, which combine thrilling performance and unwavering dependability, are scheduled to start later this year. The vehicle is expected to redefine the category of electric grand tours.
