The Pixel Watch gets the new Google Contacts Wear OS Tile

  • 30-October-2024

Two new features were added to the Pixel Watch with the October Pixel Drop, and the Google Contacts Wear OS Tile is now accessible.

A person's name and profile picture are displayed in the center of the Individual Contacts Tile. It has shortcuts for calls and messages on either side, the former of which dials right away. Emoji and generic messages (such "Yes," "Thanks," and "On my way") are included in the latter, along with the standard text and voice input screen.

You will receive a picker (with labels) if a contact has more than one number linked to it. Several separate contacts can be positioned to the left or right of your watch face.

Google Contacts for Wear OS version 1.64 is compatible with the new Individual contact tile. This upgrade, which complements the current Favorite contacts Tile, was released to the on-device Play Store today.

"Send and view select emoji reactions to Gmail notifications and in the Gmail app directly from your Pixel Watch" is the other Pixel Drop feature. This isn't live yet.

Zooming out, there was no system update for the Pixel Watch 3, 2, or 1 this month. Due to some customers experiencing problems, the September Wear OS 5 upgrade for older devices was withdrawn. Google announced earlier this month that it would start up again "later this year."

It's surprising that the Pixel Watch 3 won't receive an update this month. Hopefully, there will be more updates the next week.
