The pandemic has taught us a lot and one of the important things is mental wellbeing. Specially as an entrepreneur or just someone trying to move towards success in life, your mental health influences how you think, feel, and behave in daily life. It also affects your ability to cope with stress, overcome challenges, build relationships, and recover from life’s setbacks and hardships.

The inspirational Deshae Maitland is a Toronto based entrepreneur of an event marketing company called Dynasty Events. He started in the nightlife business at the young age of 15 and today he has over 10 years of experience. Deshae developed a rich knowledge and understanding of the event and hospitality worlds resulting in his reputation for creating truly unforgettable moments. It is truly a passion and first love at sight for Deshae.

Deshae is known for creating truly unforgettable moments in every event that he handles. He continues to specialise in all the areas of event marketing that revolve around nightclubs and has won the best new generation promoter of the year award during the Toronto nightclub awards.

Mental health struggles have been a part of his success journey. Deshae shares, ‘I overcame my mental illness through constantly working on myself everyday. What you think about is what you attract into your life. This is referred to as the law of attraction. I began to visualize the way I wanted my life to be. In my room I have vision boards all over my wall of goals I want to achieve. When I do accomplish them I take them down and put new ones’.

When Deshae was 19, he lost his great grand mother and his best friend which completely broke him and put him in the horrid state of depression. He is a strong believer in hard work, being passionate about what you do and strong mental abilities to cope with the various situations we face personally and work wise. Our greatest tests will be our greatest testimony. This means that God will put you through trials and tribulations to prepare you for what is to come. With this mindset it allowed me to overcome my mental illness.
