Google Maps, which will be available in Paris this summer, uses augmented reality (AR) to allow you travel back in time and explore some of the city's most famous sites and its rich history.
Paris boasts a rich history, most of which has been preserved through sites, museums, and other civic institutions. But now, while you explore the city, you can glimpse some of its history using augmented reality (AR) in Google Maps.
Google revealed today that Maps will utilize augmented reality (AR) to travel back in time and view the history of the city. The feature will be available this summer and will grow over time. This entails seeing an alternate replica of the Eiffel Tower designed for the 1900 World Expo, as well as pavilions erected along the Seine for the same event and reconstructions of 1700s-era sections of the city, notably the famous Notre-Dame Cathedral.
According to Google, more experiences like this one are on the way and are part of Google Arts & Culture, which was developed in partnership with Ubisoft.
