Kanye West will attempt to run for president again in 2024, having unsuccessfully attempted to do so in 2020.
According to Consequence of Sound, the rapper told paparazzi over the weekend about his upcoming campaign. “Yes… It’s simple…. It’s just we’re moving toward the future,” when asked if he was running.
Additionally, Ye disclosed that Milo Yiannopoulos, a political figure associated with the alt-right, "is working on the campaign."A former senior editor at Breitbart, Yiannopoulos most recently interned for Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene.
West and Yiannopoulos have yet to discuss their political relationship in a social media post.
The rapper announced the start of his long-shot presidential campaign under the name "Birthday Party" on July 4, 2020. He only got on the ballot in 12 states, resulting in only 70,000 votes overall, after registering for the party late and making only one major campaign appearance in addition to two last-minute video advertisements.
West has had a particularly contentious year because of his antisemitic rants, violent statements directed at Kim Kardashian's ex-boyfriend Pete Davidson, and promotion of a "White Lives Matter" t-shirt during the Paris Fashion Week debut of his Yeezy line.
Ye also slammed Kid Cudi for being friends with Davidson, criticized comedian D.L. Hughley's style, and repeatedly used racial slurs against Daily Show host Trevor Noah. Since then, all of the posts have been removed.
