Tom Holland Rises to Third on Hollywood’s All-Time Box Office List

Tom Holland can now add his name to the ranks of the three Hollywood entertainers with the strongest box office draw of all time.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has surpassed $2.33 billion worldwide this weekend, moving Holland ahead of fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe star Chris Pratt and into third place on the all-time list of highest-grossing lead actors, according to Yahoo Entertainment. Only Zoe Saldaña ($15.47 billion) and Scarlett Johansson ($15.4 billion) stand ahead of the British actor.

As Holland’s fourth Spider-Man movie, Brand New Day earned $22.2 million during the August 28–30 weekend, securing its fifth straight No. 1 finish at the North American box office. Its domestic haul has now reached $891.5 million, bringing it closer to Star Wars: The Force Awakens and its all-time North American record of $936.6 million.

At age 29, Holland is the youngest actor featured on the top-10 all-time list, while his average of $622.1 million per film in a lead role across 24 movies is the highest among everyone on the ranking, surpassing Pratt’s $522.7 million and Saldaña’s $468.8 million.

Worldwide, Brand New Day has climbed to No. 3 on the all-time chart with $2.33 billion, sitting just behind Avengers: Endgame ($2.79 billion) and ahead of Avatar: The Way of Water ($2.32 billion), while only Avatar ($2.92 billion) ranks higher.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and released July 31, the movie features Holland’s wife, Zendaya, along with Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, and Mark Ruffalo. Also released in the same month, The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan, has earned more than $1.5 billion worldwide.

With a fifth Spider-Man movie reportedly likely to be developed for Sony and Marvel, Holland could maintain a lasting position among the highest-grossing actors. Should Brand New Day pass $936 million domestically, it would become the first movie ever to reach $1 billion solely from the North American box office.
