Las Vegas Raiders signing ex-Seattle Seahawks LB K.J. Wright to a one-year contract

The Las Vegas Raiders keep on loading up on veteran linebackers. Previous Seattle Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright is signing a one-year contract with the Raiders, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport detailed. Josina Anderson initially announced the deal. The veteran LB later took to Instagram to thank the association and fanbase for their long-standing help. Wright wrote, "Thankful for every moment in these 10 years! From my brothers I played with, to the fans I played in front of, the amazing people I connected with in the city! Thank you Lord for this journey. Much love to all y'all for making my time very special here." Wright visited with the Raiders last month, and the club wanted to add the 32-year-old to its linebackers corps. With 11 days until Las Vegas opens its season on Monday Night Football against the Baltimore Ravens, the deal was at last struck. Wright went through 10 years as a stalwart of the strong Seahawks defense, watching the middle of the field and gobbling up tackles. The linebacker incorporated 941 tackles and 13.5 sacks in his decade in Seattle. Moving to Vegas introduces a reunion between Wright and defensive coordinator Gus Bradley, the defensive coordinator in Seattle from 2009-2012. Wright should slide directly into the SAM role, a vital position in Bradley's defense. Indeed, even as he enters his eleventh season, Wright can in any case run and make plays, proved by his 86 tackles, two fumble recoveries, and one INT last season. He hasn't missed a game since 2018, when knee issues consigned him to only five tilts. The expansion of Wright acquires a monstrous boost in leadership and dependability to a Raiders defense needing both. The signing comes closely following Vegas trading for linebacker Denzel Perryman barely seven days prior. The veterans join Nick Kwiatkoski, Cory Littleton, rookie third-rounder Divine Deablo, Nicholas Morrow, Tanner Muse and Javin White in the Raiders' linebacking corps. The Raiders later reported both Morrow and White were placed on the injured reserve list.
