SHE is SCIENCE is a large-scale art project that aims to expand the familiarity of female Ukrainian scientists at the local and global level, according to Sergey Tokarev. He is the initiator of STEM is FEM and a Reface investor. He aims to address gender inequality in the field of science. STEM is FEM announces to organize an art exhibition, SHE is SCIENCE: Pre-Premiere Exhibition and an essay competition for young Ukrainian girls.

SHE is SCIENCE: Pre-Premiere Exhibition

STEM is FEM will organize SHE is SCIENCE: Pre-Premiere Exhibition on March 5 in the UNIT.Verse conference room in Kyiv. The purpose of the exhibition is to enhance the familiarity of the Ukrainian female scientists and their contribution to science. Sergey Tokarev says that gender inequality in science is a global issue. This event aims to narrow the knowledge gap between the recognition of male and female scientists in Ukraine.

This exhibition will present the portraits of 12 Ukrainian female scientists that have made a crucial contribution to the field of science. The portraits are created by professional illustrators. Along with the exhibition of these portraits, the portrait heroines will interact and communicate with eventgoers during the event. The event will also include lectures and panel discussions related to the issue of gender inequality in science. The organizers of the event are committed to letting as many people know about the accomplishments of portrait heroines as possible.

The Essay Competition

STEM is FEM is organizing an essay competition for young Ukrainian girls related to the accomplishments of the portrait heroines. Young Ukrainian girls aging between 14 and 21 can enter the competition by visiting the official website of STEM is FEM and writing an essay on the life and contributions of one of the 12 portrait heroines. “I believe that participation in this essay competition will help girls find themselves in science,” says Sergey Tokarev. The main aim of the competition is to motivate young girls to become a specialist in the STEM field. It is one of the ways to address the issue of gender inequality in science.

The Aims of SHE is SCIENCE

SHE is SCIENCE is an art project that is focused to spread the accomplishments of Ukrainian female scientists. The Ukrainian male scientists and their work are famous in Ukraine. Almost every Ukrainian knows about prominent scientists including Borys Paton, Vladimir Vernadsky, Igor Sikorsky, and many more. However, only a few Ukrainians know about the extraordinary contributions of Ukrainian female scientists. The aim of SHE is SCIENCE is to narrow this knowledge gap by using art.

The Ukrainian female scientists including physicist Antonina Prykhotko and biologist SvitlanaArbuzova have contributed extraordinarily to their respective fields at the global level by using their research skills and knowledge. SHE is SCIENCE aims to recognize their work and motivate young girls to become one of them in their lives.
