Madonna Earns 10th Billboard 200 No. 1 Album as Confessions II Debuts on Top

  • 13-July-2026

Madonna has returned to the top of the charts, with her newest album Confessions II debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, Billboard confirmed on Sunday. The achievement gives the pop superstar the 10th chart-topping album of her career.

Confessions II launched with a total of 134,000 equivalent album units, according to Billboard, including 114,000 from traditional album sales. The project also generated 20.1 million streams during its opening week.

In the months before the album’s release, Madonna mounted an extensive promotional campaign. She premiered the lead single, “Bring Your Love,” during Sabrina Carpenter’s headlining performance at Coachella in April. The surprise appearance was followed by pop-up performances in West Hollywood and New York’s Times Square, along with the premiere of a short film at the Tribeca Film Festival last month.

Confessions II marks Madonna’s first studio album since 2019’s Madame X, which debuted at No. 2 on the chart. The new release has received widespread praise from critics, with many describing Confessions II as her strongest album since 2005’s Confessions on a Dance Floor.

Madonna finished ahead of Olivia Rodrigo’s You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, which landed at No. 2 this week while remaining above 100,000 equivalent album units in its fourth week on the chart. Ella Langley’s Dandelion claimed the No. 3 position, Morgan Wallen’s I’m the Problem ranked fourth, and Drake’s Iceman completed the top five.

Following her latest No. 1 album, Madonna will continue promoting Confessions II with a co-headlining appearance at the inaugural FIFA World Cup Halftime Show, where she is scheduled to perform alongside Justin Bieber, BTS and Shakira.
