“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” Surges to $1.67 Billion Worldwide in Just 12 Days

Spidey continues to soar… and soar… and soar at the global box office.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has generated an impressive $1.67 billion after only 12 days in cinemas, comprising $1.01 billion from international markets and $655 million domestically. It is now the second-quickest film to surpass $1 billion overseas, trailing only the 2019 superhero blockbuster “Avengers: Endgame.” Among its many box office achievements, “Brand New Day” has already become the highest-grossing movie of the year and the 12th-biggest film in box office history. The results highlight the lasting popularity of Peter Parker while also reflecting strong audience anticipation for Tom Holland’s fourth solo outing as Marvel’s web-slinging superhero. Audiences, after all, had not watched Spider-Man on the big screen since the 2021 blockbuster “No Way Home.”

During its second weekend in theaters, “Spider-Man” added $236 million internationally and $145 million in North America. Many movies would consider those figures remarkable for an opening weekend, let alone after spending a full week in theaters. China continues to lead the international markets, contributing $29.1 million during the weekend and $186.7 million cumulatively. The United Kingdom follows with $16 million for the weekend and $87.4 million overall, while Mexico has delivered $15.3 million over the weekend and $65.8 million to date.

With repeat business from comic book enthusiasts and limited major competition, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” appears positioned to remain dominant through the remainder of summer and into the fall season. Sony’s major tentpole is rapidly approaching the $2 billion worldwide threshold, a level reached by only seven films in history, including “Avatar,” “Avengers: Endgame” and “Titanic.” Given the movie’s extraordinary pace, box office analysts are finding it difficult to estimate where its final global total could land.

At the same time, “The Odyssey” continues to perform strongly despite the enormous draw of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.” Christopher Nolan’s Greek epic collected $79 million internationally during its fourth weekend, along with $31.5 million in North America. With its worldwide total now at $1.104 billion, “The Odyssey” has officially become Nolan’s highest-grossing film ever, surpassing 2012’s “The Dark Knight Rises” ($1.08 billion) and 2009’s “The Dark Knight” ($1.008 billion). The movie has also established a new record for Imax, earning $289 million and exceeding “Avatar” at $271 million.

Elsewhere this weekend, Paramount’s animated feature “PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie” launched with $23 million across 30 international markets, representing 75% of its overseas footprint. China led the opening with $5.5 million, followed by France with $4.5 million and the U.K. with $2.2 million. The third theatrical film adapted from the animated children’s franchise is scheduled to arrive next weekend in North America and 22 additional markets.
