According to senior industry executives, there was a significant spike in orders placed on New Year's Eve on food delivery and quick commerce platforms such as Zomato, Blinkit, Swiggy Food, and Instamart.

On Sunday, New Year's Eve, the top executives regularly updated the order trends on the microblogging platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

According to Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal, the food delivery service fulfilled nearly twice as many orders on New Year's Eve (NYE) 2023 as it did on NYEs 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20 put together.

"Interesting fact: On NYE 23, we've delivered nearly as many orders as we did on NYE 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20 put together. Looking forward to the future with excitement!" Goyal made a post on X.

The CEO and co-founder of Blinkit, a fast commerce delivery platform owned by Zomato, Albinder Dhindsa, wrote in a post on Sunday night that the company had recorded the most orders per minute and day ever.

Swiggy CEO Rohit Kapoor stated in a post on X that "NYE '24 broke all records across Swiggy Food and Instamart! Couldn't be happier with the team at the stroke of midnight!"

He revealed in a different post that Swiggy's Instamart orders per minute topped the record set on the day of the World Cup Finals.

"On Swiggy Instamart, the orders per minute (OPM) is at its highest level to date. It's 1.6 times higher than our previous high from the WC Finals, "said Kapoor.
